The Apple I Just Ate
It was on a cold morning calm evening...
I just ate this apple, and man was it good. Well, there's really more to it than that.
It's a not-so-popular apple in the states, by my experiences, as I've only seen it
in a few places. It also happens to be my favorite non-tart apple, which unfortunately makes it
terrible for pies, tarts, dumplings, and whatever else may require apples for structural support.
It is a truly powerful piece of fruit, as you can see. It is huge, actually- but not being a hard apple,
it is actually rather light and produces a pleasant hollow 'thump' sound when flicked or tapped.
The sound was almost totally uniform all the way around the fruit, which gave great promise to both consistency and flavor.
I noticed something though...I don't know why it is but Koreans feel the need to dress up their fruit.
Korean pears have big wraparound foam football suits on them. This apple happens to have a rather interesting dressing.
You know. The kind of dressing only a Predator could appreciate. This is the same crap that
is texted to me in the middle of the night and I understand it no more on my apple than
on whatever sign I run into outside the gate.
Now I have the luxury of telling you how it was. It was sweet, and juicy. In fact, too juicy. The fruit in this country is absolutely top notch when it comes to flavor, but the juice...so much juice...the fruit here is juicy to the point of social foolery. More than once I have had to recuse myself from a rousing anecdote in order to tend to the fruit. This is really unacceptable. Fruit controlling a conversation? So yes, the fruit is good. It was delicious...but it lacked the eye-twitchin' tartness of an Arkansas Black or even the common (and highly overrated) Fuji, and since it was a softer variety, it had a softer texture, hardly befitting a rocksteady Infantryman. Or something.
The Good
Fantastic flavor, size, finger thumpin' acoustic joy.
The Bad
Too juicy, covered in Korean text and gold leaf, toothless texture of a watermelon.
